StreamSets MongoDB Atlas Origin Fails with Time-Series Collections

The Issue

StreamSets MongoDB Atlas origin cannot read data from MongoDB Atlas time-series collections. The pipeline fails during initialization with this error:

Error: [MongoDB Atlas 1] Stage 'MongoDBAtlas_1' initialization error:
com.mongodb.MongoQueryException: Query failed with error code 168 with name 'InvalidPipelineOperator'
and error message 'Option noCursorTimeout not supported in aggregation.'
on server *.mongodb.net:1043 (CONTAINER_0701)

Business Impact

  • Development teams are blocked from processing time-series data by the StreamSets.
  • No workarounds available within StreamSets.
  • Critical functionality gap - time-series collections are core MongoDB Atlas feature.

Request

Please fix the MongoDB Atlas origin to support time-series collections. This is core functionality that should work out of the box.

Hi, as commented in Slack thread, we are finishing 6.4 development and we will see if this can be included for the next release, in December. Let me know if those dates could work for the customer, please

Hi again PM team - CBRE has asked again whether this can be added to the roadmap and get an ETA for implementation. The absence of support for time series data in MongoDB is a blocker for them with a critical use case. Can we get this prioritized? Thanks!

    Hi Product Management team,

CBRE has requested expedited review and higher consideration for this request, as it is a critical need for one of their major business units to go to production with their use case. If these features aren't made available, it will be an impediment for their production implementation.

    Thanks!
