Azure Synapse Stage - Exposing the Merge Query Options

Currently, the MERGE logic in StreamSets Synapse SQL Stage is largely fixed, limiting users in scenarios where custom match logic, conditional updates, or fine-grained control over insert/update/delete behaviour is needed.

This idea is for a feature /enhancement that allows customers to define and modify:

  • The ON clause (merge_search_condition) used for matching source and target records
  • Conditions within WHEN MATCHED, WHEN NOT MATCHED BY TARGET, and WHEN NOT MATCHED BY SOURCE blocks
  • Optional control over the UPDATE, INSERT, or DELETE actions based on custom logic
