Introduce Finite Default Retry Configuration in Pipeline

Currently, the default retry configuration is set to infinite retries (-1). In many real-world scenarios, this behavior is not useful — for example, when a job encounters persistent errors such as START_ERROR, it continues retrying indefinitely. This prevents the job from ever reaching a failed state, thereby delaying or completely blocking user notification and corrective actions.

Impact:

  • Users are often unaware that their jobs are stuck in an infinite retry loop.

  • Operational visibility and failure handling become difficult since the job never fails explicitly.

  • It leads to unnecessary resource consumption and longer debugging times.

Proposed Solution:

  • Update the default retry configuration to either:

    • Disable retries by default (retries = 0), or

    • Set a finite default retry count (e.g., retries = 3).

This change ensures that recurring errors surface to users promptly, allowing them to take appropriate action instead of being masked by endless retries.
