Improve Default Failover Configuration and Centralized Management

We recently encountered a situation where, due to thread unavailability on a specific SDC, many jobs got stuck in the RED ACTIVE state. These jobs neither failed nor retried on the same SDC, resulting in no user notifications being triggered.

Upon investigation, it was observed that most of these jobs were using the default failover configuration, which has failover disabled by default. This default behavior prevents jobs from automatically recovering or switching to another available SDC in such failure scenarios.

Impact:

  • Jobs remain stuck indefinitely in RED ACTIVE without retry or failover.

  • Users receive no alerts or failure notifications.

  • Manual intervention is required to identify and restart affected jobs.

  • Reduced reliability and resilience of the overall job execution environment.

Proposed Solution:

  1. Enable failover by default (failover = true) for new jobs, so that they can automatically attempt recovery on other available SDCs.

  2. Alternatively, provide an option to centrally define default failover configurations at the Control Hub or Execution Engine level, ensuring consistent and resilient behavior across all jobs.
