Add the option to set AvroReadSupport.READ_INT96_AS_FIXED Flag in supported stages(Amazon S3 Origin)

StreamSets Data Collector currently cannot read Parquet files containing INT96 timestamp columns, which were historically used by Apache Impala, older versions of Apache Spark, and Apache Hive for timestamp storage. When attempting to read these files, users receive the error:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: INT96 is deprecated. As interim enable READ_INT96_AS_FIXED flag to read as byte array.

The underlying Parquet-Java library (parquet-avro) supports a configuration property parquet.avro.readInt96AsFixed=true that enables reading these legacy timestamps as fixed-length byte arrays. However, StreamSets does not currently expose this configuration option to users.

Who Would Benefit

  • Organizations with legacy data systems — Companies migrating from or integrating with older Hadoop ecosystems (Impala, Hive, legacy Spark) that generated INT96 timestamps
  • Third-party API consumers — Teams ingesting Parquet files from external vendors or partners who cannot control the source file format
  • Data migration projects — Organizations moving historical data from legacy systems to modern platforms
