We have a survey conducted in Dimensions Data Collections that produces a DDF Data file. In this survey we have an open end (text) variable that contains answers from the users on different exotic languages. The survey is conducted on Burmese and Khmer languages. In that variable we have texts on all of those languages. The problem is that after we convert to SPSS - SAV file, we are no longer able to read the texts into the open end variable.
Please note that we are able to open the SAV file into DM Query and read the texts properly, the problem is only with SPSS softare. After a discussion with IBM support it turned out that I will need to use a dedicated font in order to display ONLY one of the languages. If I use Burmese font - only the Burmese language will be displayed etc..
What we want to happen (as an enhancement) is that if converted to SAV in unicode - all those exotic lanuages to be shown as expected without using a dedicated font - such as DM Query. Please note that I used the font used in DM Query on SPSS , but this did not solve the problem.
