Request for the ability to create custom event-based workflows, specifically triggered by a date field, within IBM Knowledge Catalog.

Current Challenges:

The default workflow templates lack the flexibility to include nested conditions, making it challenging to automate complex processes effectively.

Enhancement Request:

We propose the addition of event-based workflow creation that can be initiated directly from the application. Specifically, we need the capability to trigger workflows based on custom attributes. For instance, within our organization, each product/project has custom attributes that are updated by the Application Product Teams and reviewed annually by the Legal Team. We would like to automate the renewal process by triggering it based on a custom attribute called “Legal Review Completion Date.” When this date field is greater than the current date, we want to automatically notify the Application Product Manager to review and update all relevant Taxonomy Fields via email and within the IKC Task box.

Business Value:

Implementing this workflow will ensure that all relevant teams are notified in a timely manner and can contribute efficiently to the renewal process, reducing the risk of delays and ensuring compliance.

General Use Case:

Beyond this specific scenario, there is a broader need for the ability to trigger notifications within and outside IKC (e.g., via email) based on custom attributes and other asset types.

We communicate to Gerald Daus <daus@us.ibm.com>through emails in May - June to review internally with IBM Product SME
