multi-language for governance artifacts & metadata enrichment

Intro

Customer uses IBM Cloud Pak for Data on IBM Cloud and wants to promote CPD services throughout business units within the company. BU are located in different countries with different languages.

In the business unit (BU), which represents the end users of IBM Cloud Pak for Data, its data is available in English as well as in the respective national language (German, Hungarian, Polish, Swedish, Dutch or Czech). Its data are not only operational or transactional data but also affects metadata such as a column name.

Use Case

As a German BU, the data will also be in German language. The BU wants to create multi-language governance artifacts – in English and German – such as business terms, classifications and data classes in order to use them for metadata enrichment (see affected objectives below). For the metadata enrichment, the BU should be able to select which language is affected (only English, only German or both).

Requirements

  1. Required languages: English, German, Hungarian, Polish, Swedish, Dutch and Czech
  2. For one and the same governance artifact – such as business terms, classifications and data classes – should be able to be created in different languages.
  3. When performing metadata enrichment it should be possible to set the language (incl. multiple selection) to be used for each objective.

Affected objectives of metadata enrichment:

  1. Profile data: Provides basic statistics about the asset content, assigns and suggests data classes, and suggests primary keys
  2. Assign terms and classifications: Assigns and suggests business terms and classifications for tables and columns
  3. Expand metadata: Enrich your asset and column metadata further with fuzzy matching and generative AI
