Support of Mutual TLS (mTLS) Authentication for Salesforce Connection in IKC

The only currently supported option to connect IKC with Salesforce is by using username/password/token authentication which leverages Progress Salesforce JDBC Driver:

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cloud-paks/cp-data/5.2.x?topic=connectors-salesforcecom-connection

https://www.progress.com/jdbc/salesforce

Although connection is established over TLS/SSL and supports TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3, it still relies on using username/password which is discouraged by Salesforce. TLS 1.2 also exposes a risk when some of the data for initial handshake is passed as plain text.

While connection works, clients might have mutual TLS explicitly enabled on Salesforce side. And there is no option to configure a Salesforce certificate on IKC/CP4D side. Mutual TLS is also the most secure way of establishing connections, so some clients require this explicitly.

Competing offerings (Collibra, Informatica) support mutual TLS authentication today.

Request is to support Mutual TLS in IKC as well.
