Profiling Enhancement

Point 1: Headless queries generated by IKC
Our view is that where IKC performs an action on a third-party system, in this case a profiling event that sends queries to EDW, that activity should be fully visible within IKC (under ‘Jobs’ page of the project or any other generic page). It should also be controllable, including the ability to pause or terminate the activity if required (at a minimum terminate option).

Point 2: User refresh window (currently one hour)
When a user views a table, a query is sent to EDW. Given our data is refreshed once daily rather than in real time, triggering hourly refresh queries does not provide additional value and creates unnecessary load on EDW. Our position is that this refresh window should be configurable, with a setting of up to 24 hours.

Point 3: Use of cached data rather than refreshing from EDW
As metadata will only be refreshed monthly, we would prefer to rely on cached information rather than refreshing data from EDW every hour. Is it possible to support a configurable option that allows a choice between refreshing from EDW or using cached data.
