JDBC/ODBC Interface for BI Tools and integration with 3rd party software

Many customers use BI tools like Power BI, Tableau etc. They ask for JDBC/ODBC interface so  they could access data products and data asset's defined in our data intelligence platform using tools of their choice. I've got statements from several customers that they don't want to use our catalog or product hub to view the data. Their expectation is to use our intelligence platform to define data governance rules, data products and then access it using BI tools and other 3rd party software..

    Hi Boris

Thank you for the clarification. If the goal is to enforce data protection rules in BI tools, they will currently need to use data virtualization as a deep enforcement option. As we don't store the actual data, we can't provide what you're asking for. https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/watsonx/wdi/2.3.x?topic=governance-planning-protect-data-rules#acknowledge

    Hi Marcus,

sorry if that was not very clear. By saying "they don't want to use our catalog or product hub to view the data" I mean that users would like to use their BI Tools to access/consume data sets and data products.

So our data intelligence platform should act as a layer between data sources and BI frontend tools. In the intelligence platform users will define data protection rules, policies etc. and then consume data with BI or other tools expecting our data intelligence platform enforcing defined data protection and other rules.

So, yes I would like to have JDBC/ODBC delivery method for data products in Data Product Hub and Data Assets in projects.
