Enable watsonx.data intelligence to use AWS SageMaker endpoints for model inference

Many enterprise customers have already standardized their AI/ML deployment and inference workloads on AWS SageMaker. Today, customers who want to use AI-powered capabilities within watsonx.data intelligence must also deploy and maintain watsonx.ai for inference, creating additional infrastructure, licensing, operational, and governance overhead.

Our customer has requested that watsonx.data intelligence support external inference endpoints, specifically AWS SageMaker hosted models, as a first-class integration option. This would allow customers to connect watsonx.data intelligence directly to SageMaker endpoints for metadata enrichment, data quality recommendations, business term generation, and other AI-driven capabilities that require inference.
