Function calling feature in watsonx.ai API

Function calling feature is not available in the sdk or REST API. 

 

Functions/tools calling features (Function calling is the ability to reliably connect LLMs to external tools to enable effective tool usage and interaction with external APIs.). The possibility of using tools within the wasonx.ai API + models or fine-tuned models that can handle such task (as of today only Mixtral 8x7b give  results).It is generally coming with the json mode : Users have the option to set response_format to {"type": "json_object"} to enable JSON mode.

    The support of the function calling feature seems to me an obviousness. 
    Here is the reason why: LLM's are easy with natural language, they allows radically new ways of interacting with end-users. 
    But end-users eventually will perform transaction with systems. The support of function calling allows a smooth integration between end-users and systems.
