IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data & AI organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

AD Build call dynamic resolution outside paragraph

As discussed with the AD development team, the dynamic resolution works only with MOVEs inside the same paragraph with the CALL, plus a case when you have a MOVE to the same paragraph just before the PERFORM <para-with-the-call>, with the condition that there is no other statement between that MOVE and the PERFORM. In the paragraph with the CALL, only MOVEs SETs, are considered, other statements like other PERFORMs, GOTOs, etc are ignored.

Then, if no value is found it will just use the value used in the definition of the variable. The lab explained this is a limitation by design, as a compromise between performance and accuracy,
In our case, the dynamic call construction is delegated to a “framework” that has a multitude of MOVE in paragraphs specialized in program name construction. For instance in a paragraph there is the population of bytes 1 and 2 of a program name, the bytes 5, 6 and 7 in another and so on…
In this way ADDI retrieves only a part of the program name and seems to build ‘fake’ program names, without any warnings about missing program resolution. This preventsus  to use not only ADDI, but also the Watsonx Code Assistant for Z, because the ‘understand’ phase will produce a wrong output.

We propose two possible (not mutually exclusive) approaches for this RFE:

·       to expand the algorithm because the limitation is only by design for reducing bulding time

·       to introduce the option to add a rule to build the program name in specific paragraphs
