Provide model-level traceability for every IBM Bob task

IBM Bob can dynamically select different AI models depending on the task being performed. This is a very interesting approach from a performance and cost perspective, but enterprise users should be able to know which model was actually used for each task.

For every Bob task or execution, Bob should expose at least:

• the model that was selected;
• the model/version or deployment when relevant;
• ideally, this information through both the UI and audit/API logs.

This is particularly important for customers operating in regulated environments such as financial services, insurance, healthcare, government, or other industries where AI governance and auditability are becoming mandatory.

When an AI-assisted development task results in generated, modified, analysed, or migrated code, an organization may need to demonstrate not only what Bob did, but also which AI model was involved in producing the result.

Business value

Model-level traceability would:

• improve AI governance and auditability;
• help organizations comply with internal AI policies;
• simplify risk and compliance reviews;
• allow customers to understand how Bob routes tasks between models;
• provide greater transparency when several models with different capabilities, costs, or governance constraints are used.

Bob's ability to intelligently choose the most appropriate model is a strength. Giving customers visibility into that choice would make it much easier to adopt Bob in regulated enterprise environments.
