BMC Customer's are requesting that Watson Discovery query should allow specifying
field relevancy boosting / field relevancy weighing when searching documents - typically for getting
matching passages.
In the absence of this Feature, BMC Customer's are not getting relevant documents in Watson Discovery
searches.
Sample use case:
- Discovery documents has Title Field, Keywords Field and other Fields.
- Customer wants to specify that matches on say Title Field are most relevant,
matches on Keywords Field are of next relevance and so on.
- This capability is needed with Watson Discovery natural language query.
Customer benefits:
- This capability will give Customer's fine grained control for specifying relative
relevance of Fields with respect to a Discovery query.
- This capability will allow Customer's to get most relevant search results based on
relative importance of Fields with respect to Watson Discovery searches for their
use cases.
Popular search engines support for Field relevancy boosting / Field weighing.
For your reference, there are popular search engines that allow Field relevancy boosting / Field weighing.

Weight against the field level relevancy is a great idea and i strongly support this feature.
