Add consumption metrics (CUH/Tokens) at Project/Space level to SW version as there is on SaaS

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

Request:
Add support for multi-tenant usage tracking in the SW (on-prem) version, aligned with the usage-based metering we support on SaaS. Currently the SW tracks by GB of RAM, # GPUs and vCPUs, but it lacks:

  • Token/CUH tracking per project/space.
  • API access to usage data.
  • Billing or quota enforcement (to stop consumption after a threshold).
  • Bonus: client wishes to leverage different HW profiles (ex: NVIDIA vs Lenovo GPUs). A simplified way to manage this would be desirable (as opposed to multiple instances per profile, as it is currently).

Why It Matters:

  • Customer Requirement: Without metering, they cannot commercialize AI services for their clients (mainly government and regulated industries).
  • Compliance-Driven Market: Uruguay prohibits public cloud for sensitive data. This makes on-prem AI a strategic differentiator.
  • Regional Impact: A successful deployment here would give us a first-mover advantage in LATAM for regulated, on-prem AI use cases—where today, the lack of a reference is blocking deals.

Could the owner of this give me the ability to promote this AHA to an EPIC?

    Additional information about opportunity:

    • ID: 006gR000000NUNCQA4
    • Tx Rev: 250K (could grow up to 3x, depending on how well conversation goes).

Client is planning to execute near end of year, so they can be in production by Q1 2016. They need to define which provider they will chose, this quarter. We're competing against OpenShift AI for on-premises, and GCP for non-critical use cases.

Absolutely. I personally have one big on-prem project with one of the largest technological companies in my country, and they have this as a fundamental requirement, since they want to offer Watsonx.ai (on-prem) as a service to their customers, so this would be the only way to measure each user's consumption.
