Creating a dynamic view of connected data to a git integrated project

A Query Asset (Dynamic View) is a virtual data asset created using an SQL query. It enables users to derive meaningful datasets from one or more connected data sources without physically duplicating data. Dynamic views can include selected columns, filtered rows, joins across multiple tables, or any combination of these transformations.

Currently, Query Assets/Dynamic Views are not supported in Git-integrated projects. Adding this capability would enable users to manage, version, collaborate on, and promote dynamic views through standard Git workflows, bringing consistency between development, testing, and production environments.

With Dynamic Views support in Git-integrated projects, users would be able to:

  • Create virtual data assets containing a subset or superset of columns from connected data sources.

  • Filter rows using conditional expressions to create business-specific datasets.

  • Combine data from multiple tables using SQL joins without creating physical copies of the data.

  • Split a large table into multiple logical data assets based on values in selected columns.

  • Store and version Query Asset definitions in Git repositories, enabling change tracking, peer reviews, and rollback capabilities.

  • Promote dynamic views across environments through CI/CD and DataOps workflows.

  • Improve collaboration among Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Business Analysts working within Git-integrated projects.
