watsonx.data - Confluence connector for watsonx.data Premium, web crawler and MCP server

The client has delineated 3 requirements to be able to proceed with PoC -
1. Confluence Connector for watsonx.data Integration

Client requires a Confluence (on-prem) connector to enable ingestion into watsonx.data Premium. Lack of connector excluded IBM from current PoCs, but CIO has re-engaged, indicating competitive gap. It must support vectorization and scaling for large Confluence deployments.

Key requirements -

  • Connector available for Confluence on-prem
  • Supports secure data ingestion with authentication/authorization mapping.
  • Compatible with watsonx.data Premium for RAG/enterprise search use cases.

2. Web Crawler for HTML/Unstructured Docs Integration
Client requires ingestion of large volumes of internal documentation (HTML pages/websites). Current vendors show scalability issues; IBM must demonstrate robust alternative.

Key requirements -

  • Crawl internal web docs and ingest into watsonx.data Premium
  • Handles incremental/real-time sync of updated content
  • Ensure scalability and indexing efficiency.

3. MCP Server Support for Enterprise Search Exposure

CSG’s current approach: all enterprise search exposed via MCP, not just vector DB queries. IBM must replicate this to meet security, relevancy, and recency expectations. Critical for demonstrating IBM’s enterprise search + RAG architecture vs current vendors.

Key requirements -

  • Enable watsonx.data Premium search capabilities to be exposed through MCP server
  • Provide scalable performance comparable or superior to competitor PoCs
