Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
If workload increases on system, it might be necessary to adjust (typically increase) the available active log space. System downtime is not acceptable in our days. It is sufficient if the log files get resized before re-use and the amount of log ...
page_age_trgt_mcr is a kind of successor of SOFTMAX and provides the possibility to control the flushing of modified buffer pool pages to table spaces based on time. Unfortunately page_age_trgt_mcr is just configurable, not configurable ONLINE. Th...
Make SYSMON group configurable online. Currently an outage is required to set or change SYSMON. While some DBAs set this whenever they build a system, others do not, and it is frustrating to request this fairly common level of permissions and to h...
A DB cfg parameter to set the default tablespace to prevent objects ending up in the wrong TS
When not explicitly set in the CREATE TABLE statement, a newly created table will end up in the last created tablespace. A lot of customers have problems with this for several reasons. They have no control over table placement when using a framewor...
NUM_LOG_SPAN species a number of log files. If the number of log files changes (LOGPRIMARY, LOGSECONDARY, LOGFILSIZ) the absolute number of NUM_LOG_SPAN should be adjusted as well. If NUM_LOG would be a percent value of the primary log files there...
MAX_QUERYDEGREE allows to specify the maximum degree of parallelism for a query. The setting of ANY is usually to aggressive for typical Db2 SAP systems. Specifying an absolute value has the disadvantage of having to adjust the parameter for every...
Make DB2_USE_ALTERNATE_PAGE_CLEANING=ON the default
DB2_USE_ALTERNATE_PAGE_CLEANING is of great benefit for performance and scalability since it was introduced in v8. It's now the default in pureScale and BLU environments, so why can't we make it the default all around?
