IBM Data and AI Ideas Portal for Customers

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post your ideas

Post ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted and upvote them if they matter to you,

  1. Post an idea

  2. Upvote ideas that matter most to you

  3. Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea

Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests

The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.

Receive notification on the decision

Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.

Support for mac M1 ARM

Need CPLEX native support for ARM based osx M1/M2 - A lot of developers use mac for development and going through the emulation option is not optimal

ODBCUpdate function needed

On the recent versions of cplex we have functions like ODBCRead and ODBCPublish for data management on Data bases engines, but it is also necessary to have a function like ODBCUpdate which corresponds to the old one DBUpdate function which allows ...

Interface between CPLEX and .Net CORE 5 on LINUX

We are developing applications using .Net CORE 5. This is a great language to develop solution on either Windows or Linux. We have no issues using CPLEX with Windows as we have the cp_wrap_cpp_dotnet2010.dll running but we miss a Linux version of ...

saving data with a mouse-click instead of writing code through JDBC connector in CSV or other formats

I can currently browse it in the UI/IDE using the various inspectors. It would be nice if I could easily save this data to a file with a mouse click rather than having to write code, or add JDBC connections and rerun the model, etc. Typically what...

Add support for Python 3.9 and 3.10 to cplex & docplex packages (they support a very limited number of Python versions)

Please add support for Python 3.9 and 3.10 to the cplex and docplex Python packages as soon as possible and upload new binary packages (wheels) to the Python Package Index. The cplex package currently supports Python 3.7 and 3.8. According to the...

In OPL ODBC connection, add a setting for batch size

The prebuilt ODBCConnection allows OPL to access databases using ODBC. One way to optimize database access is to tune the execution batch size. With older versions of OPL that included DBLink, this was the dbUpdateBatchSize parameter.

Add support for Java 11 in CPLEX java API

Currently, CPLEX and CPO provide a java API to the engines. This API currently supports Java 8 (IBM SDK and Oracle Java). A more recent versions of Java with LTS is Java 11 - It would be nice if CPLEX Optimization studio officially supports Java 1...

Callbacks from CP for .Net languages like C#

Callbacks are available from CP using C++ or Java, but not if using the API from C# (or any .Net language). This seems to be very strange as the internal structures must be there inside the CP libraries etc in order to support the callbacks from C...

Interface between CPLEX and FORTRAN

Since FORTRAN is one of the TOP20 programming languages in the TIOBE index (, I suggest that IBM create mixed-integer linear programming models with CPLEX and FORTRAN. I have not found a library similar to Concer...

WML multiprocessing support

Multiprocessing using Pythons multiprocesing library works with Notebooks in Watson Studio, but not for deployed WML models. Multiprocessing for DOCPLEX MILP models can significantly reduce time and resources used for solving a set of several mode...
