Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The product management team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
Prevent package invalidation after ALTER TABLE ROTATE
System: Production management databaseActor: Developers maintaining the databaseDescription: Our customer runs a 24/7 production management OLTP system with IMS V10 and DB2 V9 for z/OS on which its transaction rate gets as high as 10 trans/sec, an...
Enable customers running 24/7 to create unique indexes
Our Internet and Mobile applications are used 24/7 and we do not have any batch windows nor any maintenance windows. When creating new indexes on existing tables the a CREATE INDEX operation generates an unwanted outage when created with DEFER NO....
Stop package invalidation after ALTER MAXPARTITIONS
These days in an agile world we have to ALTER PBG spaces on-the-fly to raise the MAXPARTITIONS value. Sadly this ALTER, even though it is an immediate ALTER, sets all dependent packages to VALID = 'N' which is, of course, a disaster.
A number of our common customers run DB2 utilities from third party vendors and IBM replication solutions. They are requesting that our LOAD and REORG utilities write the old dictionary pages to the log for later retrieval by a replication product...
DSNT376I message don't supply total information to solve the problem analisys
I found that as soon as the DB2 Lock Escalation message occurred (DSNI031I), DB2 seems to begin rejecting the ESS SQL calls against this tablespace, *immediately* without waiting the DB2 lock timeout interval. This probably explains why there is n...
The SAP data dictionary supports the creation of temp tables. This allows application developers to speed up the processing by temporarily storing result sets of queries in the database and later process them. The data is only kept until commit. T...
DB2 has many commands which display or alter the status of something. There are a lot of distinct environments from which the commands can be executed (z/OS console, DSN session, TSO DSN command processor, IMS or CICS terminal, special STPs, IFI-i...
With early versions of DB2 the performance of EXPLAIN was not relevant. Nowadays, where DBAs do thousands of EXPLAINs, the performance and turnaround is getting critical. I think there is room for better performance and throughput of mass EXPLAINs...

A View with Select * should be regenertated without Drop/Create View
We have a lot of views defined with Select *. Since DB2 V8 we have the option to add columns to the base table, but the view does not include the new column, which is ok and accepted. But to get the new column we have to drop and recreate the View...
