Cognos ability to read from REST API services

One challenge we are facing today is the ability to read data from non-traditional databases such as Marklogic, Nginx, NoSql databases which talk through Rest API for most of their functionality. They not only enable real time reporting requirements but also support fast paced development models which don't quite care about dimensional modeling in their early stages.

With so many data sources adopting rest api interfaces for their service models, this lack of ability in Cognos is severely limiting us in how far we can introduce Cognos into our eco system.

It's good for Cognos to have this generic Rest API based reading capability from these new data sources on their roadmap sooner than later. It is also in our favor to leverage Cognos for these needs with its enterprise grade support rather than having to depend on new vendors.
