I too find this filter bar takes up valuable real estate in the dashboards. It looks messy and should not require the users to collapse it every time they open the dashboard.
We are a client that embedd company dashboards into 365/teams and so on, Not able to open dashboards with filter pane closed looks amateurish. This way of publishing content have big potential for boosting self sercvice as users editing 365/teams pages themselves
We are displaying dashboards on television screens throughout our facility. There is no need to see the filter panel section on these screens. It takes up valuable screen space.
I would be happy if this would be added through an option when saving the dashboard or an option to pass in a custom URL.
Agree with Larry, as a partner embedding this technology in our solution, we want the interface to look as clean as possible. Most users will be not need to utilize the filters in our integration as their dashboards are already pre-set to be useful as they are loaded. Only a small percentage will likely be tweaking the filters, so it is not worth the distraction they cause or the real estate they take up on the screen when open.
As per Larry Kading who also commented - - - We are an IBM partner that embeds the Dashboards into our solution. The Dashboards opening with filter opened, creates an extra 'click' by the user every time to get it back to just the dashboard. Best to plan UX design on what most would want, land clean, then IF they want to open, it's their action to do it, not forced to do it to get back to normal.
