Abilitiy to use query items from a joined query in report authoring
Case TS001884812
A joined query with a filter is not selectable item in report Authoring. On the joined query there is a filter, if we not use the joined query, the filter is not applied. Not able to move filter before the join.
Development:
"any joined query, regardless of the data source, will always reference the query item from a specific child query. This is how it's worked since at least 10.2.2, but probably even before that. Unions and Intersects will allow you to use a data item derived from the combined query, but joins do not, and never did.
This can easily be reproduced by creating two queries, adding two data items to join on, for example (using Go Sales (query)) you use [Sales (query)].[Products].[Product line] in query 1 and [Inventory (query)].[Products].[Product line] in query 2. When you join the two queries on Product Line, you will still be able to pick one or the other, and not query 3.Product Line , as seems to be the expectation here.
They confirmed that it's expected behavior and suggested raising an enhancement request.
