Ability to refrence another reports metadata (query) into new report

I write reports that have several charts based on the same query. Users then consume these charts via workspace.
The reason I have high density of charts in a single report is because they are using the same query. I don't want many reports with same query as maintenance goes up. However, users will get indicators their chart has changed, when in fact the change might be an additional chart in the report. This leads to confusion and reduced productivity.
The ability to reference another report for its metadata (query) would be outstanding
