Output tabular data of a query into Excel format

In Cognos BI or versions prior to Cognos Analytics 11.x.x there was the option to run the output of a query during design time into an Excel format which made it easy for developers to see, massage and analyze the data as they go. Even though it is still doable in the present version (11.1.4) but it is by a convoluted method by adding several more steps to achieve the same results.  With reports that contain multiple queries and if their running time is pretty long then the over all time to complete a report becomes multiplied exponentially, delaying the results, the output and the completion time. So I request you to put back that feature to the present and future versions of Cognos so somebody, somewhere who has use for it can continue to take advantage of that functionality.
