Lack of alerts for mgt1 issues

In CPDS 1.x the DNS availability is provided only through a single link mgt1 connection.

This means that when the link goes down the system is unable to send out e-mail notifications about it as it is unable to resolve hostname of the mail server.


IBM commented this is not a bug and needs to be implemented as an improvement.

"Our experts need to think about a way to make sure the alert(s) get out in case we lose mgt1 (dns access). Is not worth triggering a HUB failover over such a situation and maybe should consider to try other nodes for alerts while we have such a problem. In any case, this is a big redesign that might take a long time. This is a platform enhancement and we would need new aha items created."

That sounds very stupid that is isn't considered a bug but nothing we can do about it apart from looking for other vendors.
