Oracle connectors should support more flexible connect strings

The Oracle connector only allows configuring SID (or service)/port/hostname, whereas Oracle connect strings can normally be considerably more complex. This does not allow for connection manager configurations or even a simple failover pair of hosts for DataGuard.

Without failover support, if the databases switch to a DataGuard standby site, CloudPak for Data won't be able to connect to an Oracle DB until someone manually reconfigures all the affected connections. This essentially compromises high availability.

    Thanks for submitting this idea.

We will consider this enhancement to the Oracle connector potentially in the future, based on other priorities.
