We had built CP4D env on AWS. Once v4.0 release, AWS EFS is not supported. Even other cloud service's NFS storages are still supported.
We heard it caused by technical limitation of EFS with NFS protocol, and CSI(Container Storage Interface) has no limitation like as NFS protocol.
Currently, AWS EFS CSI Driver is supported by Openshift Container Platform 4.9 support as Tech Preview.

ODF/Portworx are more expensive than EFS. They require self-managed serves and operation for scalability(watch free space then add disks).
EFS are managed storage and unlimited for scalability.
Supporting EFS CSI driver help us to continue selling CP4D env built on AWS.
Regards.
