Allow Microsoft SQL Server connection to authenticate to Active Directory

The CP4D default Microsoft SQL Server connector does not handle authentication with Active Directory. Instead customers need to create a service account ON the SQL Server itself. This is probably due to lack of properly passing authentication token from/to Active Directory.

Customers using Microsoft SQL Servers expect our platform to work smoothly with SQL Server since its such a widely used database.

In the next Cloud pak for Data release, we've enhanced the SQL Server connector. As such, Windows Authentication with NTLM authentication scheme is supported and for any other forms of Windows authentication that may be supported by MS SQL Server, a Generic JDBC Connection can be created.

Please create a separate Aha Idea, if you need more than this.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Can you please Allow AD authentication from CP4D for all Azure Platform Connections including SQL Server, as most of our data sources are in Azure. Due to the security risks , the information security team has advise us to use the service accounts that can be authenticated via AD rather than using SQL users. Can you please assist with this feature as soon as possible.

This feature request comes from client (Region Västerbotten) requirements during extensive end-to-end data fabric + data science POC. They're using a lot of MS SQL Servers on-premises so need CP4D to work well with them. This request is one of their highly prioritized ones. Deal size as of ISC is 300K, but that is only a 12 month subscription. Should client decide to go perpetual it will be roughly 700K.

This client is also a lighthouse for 23 other healthcare regions across Sweden, and the remaining 23 are closely monitoring what Region Västerbotten is doing. We have partnered with Sogeti/Cap Gemini to work with the other 23 and replicate what we are doing with Region Västerbotten. So even if we just close 2 deals we would be well above 1MUSD, and we would be looking at much higher numbers as we add more (10MUSD?)
