Manta COBOL scanner should support Mainframe utilities like IDCAMS, SORT, IKJEFT1B, CAFCP, IEFBR14, and PCDMULTK

Background:

Bank has requirement to build data lineage for legacy applications that are implemented in COBOL. Target date to enable the COBOL scanner in Manta production is end of July.

Why it is critical?

  1. Several applications at Truist that interact with critical data elements (CDE) are implemented using COBOL programs. These COBOL programs may contain CDEs.

  2. Enable the data governance for regulatory reporting, and National Review Exams.

  3. Business-critical need to gain visibility into how CDEs flow through these COBOL programs.

Expected: Manta should be able to scan JCL native utility exec IKJEFT1B.

Currently, Manta version 42.12.0 throws parsing errors below.

    Manta COBOL scanner should support Mainframe utilities like IDCAMS, SORT, IKJEFT1B, and IEFBR14. There are cases where IDCAMS generates a file and it is consumed by downstream COBOL programs as per our COBOL SME from CIF application team
