IBM Data Platform Ideas Portal for Customers

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against products and services offered by the IBM Data Platform organization. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Data lineage for a Manta IFPC scanner should provide a visual representation for mappings when viewing lineage from Manta Flow Viewer GUI

Why is it useful?

Data lineage generated from IFPC scanner is expected to align with Informatica data flow represented by a mapping used in a informatica workflow. Logically thinking Manta data lineage would be validated by a informatica domain expert who are familiar with terms like mapping, source qualifier, expressions, transformations etc. From that perspective, a mapping encapsulates the data flow used in a informatica workflow. So, Manta should encapsulate the other objects like SQ, sources, targets, transformations, expressions, joiners etc inside a mapping box in data lineage for IFPC.

Who would benefit from it? INF Domain experts who will validation of data lineage generated in Manta

How should it work? Refer screenshots attached.

    Hello Amar!

I believe your request is for Manta to represent both the design-time and runtime views of the Informatica mapping. Currently, we focus on representing the runtime lineage, where all dynamic parameters have been resolved to show what actually executed. It sounds like you’re suggesting we also include a dimension that presents the original, unparameterized version of the mapping—essentially the design-time view with dynamic placeholders still in place for the IFPC job.

I really love this idea and want to ensure I'm fully understanding your request. Could you please confirm if my interpretation is correct?
