Redirected Restore on STANDBY for STOGROUP expansion

Case number: TS008472518

Our database was 42TB and the file system were 45TB across 12 file systems. I wanted to expance the total storage to TB by adding 12 additional file systems. I took a backup and did a re-directed restore on standby with 24 file system in the same storage group on pre-prod environments. After the restore, I started standby, and I see no issues and took over as primary; Carried the same process on new standby (old primary)

Time taken: 8 hours each; Total file system used: 42 TB out of 60TB.

IBM disagreed with this approach and wanted me to add the new file system to the storage group and rebalance each file system. I was completed to expand the file system to 90TB as DB2 required two copy of the data during the rebalance
Time to rebalance: 120 hours; additional space requirement: 45TB
System was slow during these 120 hours.

RFE: IBM/DB2 team should allow the approach I took which is simple and robust. IBM can put limitation that no DDL/ALTER can be done on the tablespaces till the standby is not converted to Primary, after the restore.
