Seems like a ploy to limit scope in testing for SUSE and RHEL. This is what had made DB2 LUW a great product for so many years. Unfortunate to see this fall in compatibility for OS that are going to be in service for many years.
Bradley - thank you for submitting this Idea. We have discussed this internally. We considered this request and unfortunately, it is not something we are able to deliver in the future. The decision has to do with keeping our technology stack up to date so that our customers can get the most out of the lifecycle. Considering that Db2 lifecycle means a version could stay in support 8 or more years, we chose RHEL 9 to minimize requiring OS upgrade within the 12.1 lifecycle.
11.5.9 is also supported on RHEL 9. If you are on 11.5, consider an OS upgrade and modpack update to test it before undertaking the Db2 version upgrade to 12.1.
