We are in the process of providing max thread limits via the Db2 Profile tables AUTHID entries for our applications. We would like to use a AUTHID=* entry to provide a default thread limit and use AUTHID=xxx values for applications which may need to exceed that default value. Providing these limits will lower the risk of a 'runaway' application or driver issue consuming all the available threads defined by the MAXDBAT parameter. We can use the Db2 system data to analyze the high water marks for the active threads in each Db2 member to be sure that is well below our MAXDBAT value. We cannot however break that data up by AUTHID to understand the high water mark for the thread usage for an application. This data would help us determine the appropriate values for the Db2 Profile entries as well as allow us to track the usage over time and adjust them appropriately as volume or usage changes. We can put the Db2 Profile entries in with WARNING mode and increment the values if errors occur until we reach an error-free number. That will help with the initial setting but will not help for increasing limits as volumes grow since the values need to be set with EXECEPTION mode to serve the original purpose. Being able to associate a high water thread usage count for an AUTHID would be very beneficial here.
