Unexpected data truncation occurs in external JAVA stored procedures using VARCHAR type parameters; whenever they contain any hex '00' character somewhere in the string data. If a JAVA stored procedure updates a variable such as x'C100C2', the program calling the stored procedure is getting the value as x'C14040'.

Program P2 invokes stored procedure P1 and program P2 is expecting some data in VARCHAR variable VAR2 from Procedure P1. If the variable VAR2 contains HEX value as x’00’, value starting from that position is getting replaced by HEX value x’40’ when it receives it in program P2.
