Timestamps in system generated messages in STDERR in a java WLM.

The STDERR in a java WLM does not include a timestamp of when the message was written. It's hard to cross check the system message produced with an application issue.

Hi Eduardo, Thank you for submitting this Aha! Ideas. Our respective Db2 for z/OS development team reviewed this Aha! idea and are not going to implement this, but instead they are providing a workaround, attached below.

    Sincerely,

    Db2 for z/OS team

    Hi Janet,

It is for Java stored procedures. I am envisioning more like the syslog where every message gets a timestamp in the first few bytes. It is just for the error messages that gets written on STDERR file.

I would think that having the timestamp on every Java SP execution will have generated more unnecessary messages since they can run hundreds if not thousands of times every hour. I would care more about errors and hopefully they would be a lot less.

First, we'd like to clarify if this request is for a Java stored procedure or is it for a java appl (non stored-proc). If the latter, you should route it to the JCC driver team (Rocket). If this is about the java stored-proc, then we have timestamp for the time when the JVM is created and when the Java SP started execution. Customer can refer to those 2 timestamps. We don't think we want to add the timestamps for all the messages as there are too many and not necessary. Does customer have an example of the message that they want timestamp on?
