Workspace Db2 for z/OS

Implement a method for monitoring and automatically cancel connections and free locks if the time is exceded

We have CICS Transactions that access to DB2 and get some locks on the resources they need. Then they call webservices outside the
mainframe. When the R/T of these webservices are high, it causes contentions with other transactions and requests on DB2 (because of the original Db2 locks). For connections that are suspended at DB2, we have been said that there is no timeout parm to solve this problem, in order to avoid these contentions with other
applications. We would like DB2 for z/OS to implement a method for monitoring and automatically cancel these connections and free those locks if the time needed to access
the webservices is higher than a threashold.

Thank you for submitting this enhancement request.

Db2 for z/OS development has reviewed it and determined monitors and transaction managers that work with Db2 are in a better position to determine when Db2 threads should be cancelled. Therefore, we will not be implementing this idea.

Please do continue to submit your enhancement requests as we review each one for potential implementation in to the Db2 for z/OS product.

    Sincerely

The Db2 for z/OS Development Team
