Refresh MQT access

We have a situation where the application team wants the access to refresh their MQTs, but all the available options give them over entitlements other than just refresh.

• Ownership of the materialized query table - gives application team access to drop, create and alter objects. We don't want that.

• DBADM or DBCTRL authority on the database that contains the materialized query table - too much access for just refreshing MQTs.

• SYSADM or SYSCTRL authority - too much access for just refreshing MQTs.

• DATAACCESS authority - too much access for just refreshing MQTs.

Having a separate access level just to refresh MQTs will be great.

Hello Ashutosh, Thank you for submitting this Aha! Idea. The Db2 for z/OS team reviewed it and determined it does not align within functionality prioritized for delivery within next 12 months.

The SQL REFRESH MQT statement can be embedded in a program as static statement. For static REFRESH MQT statement, the package owner is checked for authorization. The application team executing the package only requires the privilege to execute the plan / package and not the privilege to execute the REFRESH MQT statement.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
