Dear Thomas, Thank you for providing the additional information. The Db2 for z/OS development team re-reviewed this idea and has decided to change the state from Not under Consideration to Future consideration state. We will be revisiting this idea in the future.
Sincerely,
The Db2 for z/OS team
Ownership plays a very import part in a secure DB2 environment and having the possibility to change/correct object ownership is a must accross all object types in DB2. Therefore please reconsider this as an very import fix to be delivered to keep DB2 as the leading secure RDBMs
During our migration from DB2 natiive to RACF security, we have encountered a major issue related to storep procedures and functions being owned by the IDs which are not in RACF anymore. For instance some past, 20 years long gone ex DBA, changed standard in group naming convention, you name it.
Since after such migration, if the SP or F owner does not exist in RACF, RACF will immediatelly reject any attemp to invoke such object making it unusable. Because transfer ownership does not woprk for such objects it becomes major task to drop/recreate all the related objects. IN our case it is also a lot of objects which are depending on each other making it even more complex.
The transfer ownership implementation of all obejcts, especially stored procs and functions, sequnces and troggers should be prioritized and not put away in time, especially in the era of the pressure on secure and safe DB2 environment protected by RACF.
Dear Thomas, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. The Db2 for z/OS team reviewed it and believe it is a good idea, however, it does not align with functionality prioritized for the upcoming 12 months.
We have marked this idea as Not under consideration, and also to re-review it in 2023.
We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. And we hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.
Sincerely,
Db2 for z/OS Team
