Provide an easy way to de-allocate the underlying Linear dataset when needed without dropping and recreating table spaces and index spaces.

Component: DDL? Data Definition Language?

There are cases when a table has change its usage and may remain empty for a very long time or not use anymore but still required to be defined in Db2. In this case, it would be good to have a better way of de-allocating the underlying linear dataset for table and index spaces with a simple REORG instead of dropping and recreating the object.

    Dear Thomas, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. The Db2 for z/OS development team reviewed it and provided the following feedback:

    This requirement is to provide a process in Db2 to "undefine" datasets. There are no plans to deliver this capability in the near future and therefore this is being marked as not under consideration. It may be re-evaluated in future.

    Please do continue to submit enhancement requests to us as we review each and every one to assess its value to improve the Db2 for z/OS product for our customers.
