externalize stop command failure

objects remain in STOPP when stop fails with no indication that it failed.

a manual start followed by a manual stop is required to cause the object to proceed to a stop state. it's unfortunate, that issuing a start is required since that will allow access potentially resulting in another stopp because the stop again failed.

since acquiring BCV5, this issue arises several times a day.

Dear Gail, Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. The Db2 for z/OS team for this component area reviewed the idea and has provided the following feedback:

As reported in the case TS008796509 is an asynch operation and unfortunately it is limited what Db2 can do. The user would need to take actions to find out why the command failed. We should have all these information documented in the publication. Therefore, there is no further enhancements Db2 can provide. The best action is for user to address the original problem to avoid the situation reported in TS008796509.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team and hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team

application tablespaces that are in use at the time a STOP is issued are the objects we find remaining in STOPP with no users, claimers or locks.
