Detect corrupted pointers in the free chain and avoid referencing them

We are currently using a USERMOD which detects corrupted pointers in the free chain before referencing them and, if detected, automatically truncates the free chain to avoid referencing bad addresses. If this can be generalized and implemented without impacting performance it would be a solid RAS improvement.

Hello Matthew, Bituin confirmed that APAR PH56366 helps in detecting storage overlays on a 4gigabyte (xxxxxxxx_00000000) boundary in the high SHARE region which can include the Storage Manager's free chain.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
