Add wildcard support to all system profile tables filtering criteria categories

Using system profile tables to control workloads is a very useful feature and hence it is more and more used.
During our tests, we found out that we have the need to use wildcards within the DSN_PROFILE_TABLE filtering categories of a PROFILEID. In most of them it is already possible to set a 'full wildcard' ('*') to qualify for 'all'.
But what is already documented (and works fine) for AUTHID and PRDID, for example using 'TEMP*' or 'DSN*', should also work for (all) the other filtering categories like for example COLLID and PKGNAME. But also CLIENT_APPLNAME, CLIENT_USERID and CLIENT_WRKSTNNAME would be candidates for these wildcard/pattern-processing as they are more and more used by remote applications (despite support was already declined for DB24ZOS-I-550).

    Dear Stefan,

Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS enhancement request. We have reviewed this request and believe it is an excellent idea. Db2 for z/OS is aware of the need, but profile function is highly performance senstivie. Adding wild carding to long strings such as client_userid would significanlty impact transaction costs due to having to resolve profile filtering on every transaction boundary. For this reason, unfortunately, we will not be considering this idea.

We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We hope that you will continue to submit enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.

    Sincerely,

    The Db2 for z/OS Team
