Status Not under consideration

Provide a facility to track Db2 Command History

A table that would record commands (like START/STOP, ), when they were executed, by whom, etc. Some commands (like DISPLAY) could be excluded. One Use Case would be to analyze why a tablespace might be in UT status when no utilities are running. At our site, if an application is sunsetted, but the data must be kept around for audit purposes (sometimes several years), we would but the database or tablespaces in UT status so that application usage would be disallowed. Knowing that this status existed for a length of time would help determine if this is valid to be in UT status or if it is a current tablespace that was inadvertantly in UT status.

I can envision other use cases for recording history of binds, rebinds, autorebinds(?), start sp, term utility, free package and more.

Hello Larry, In order for our team to continue researching this Aha! idea, more information is needed from you:

    • We can't see doing a write to a table as a solution because that would be more of an EXPLAIN type behavior. Is Larry looking more for an IFCID in the PERFORMANCE category?

    • Also, the DSN commands (like binds, rebinds, autorebinds) are not Db2 commands. That would have a completely different path than say START SP, TERM UTIL.

    Please let us know.

    Sincerely,

The Db2 for z/OS Development team

    • Also, the DSN commands (like binds, rebinds, autorebinds) are not Db2 commands. That would have a completely different path than say START SP, TERM UTIL.
