According to the manual, column masking has incompatibility with some SQL functions that we use a lot.
In our environment, we have many abends with SQLCODE = -20478, example:
SELECT
CASE
WHEN ST_EMAIL LIKE 'MARIA%' THEN 'OK'
ELSE 'NOT OK'
END
FROM DB2TST.USER;
---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+---------+--------
DSNT408I
SQLCODE = -20478, ERROR: THE STATEMENT CANNOT BE PROCESSED BECAUSE
COLUMN MASK DB2TST.EMAIL_MASK (DEFINED FOR COLUMN USER.ST_EMAIL)
EXISTS AND THE COLUMN MASK CANNOT BE APPLIED OR THE
DEFINITION OF THE MASK CONFLICTS WITH THE REQUESTED STATEMENT. REASON CODE 24
We would like to remove the restrictions below in the following order of priority:
24: The column is referenced in a WHEN clause of a CASE expression.
26: The column is referenced in an aggregate function with keyword DISTINCT.
27: A sort key expression for ARRAY_AGG, LISTAGG, PERCENTILE_CONT, PERCENTILE_DISC or MEDIAN references a column for which a column mask is defined.
20: The result table is derived from a recursive common table expression and the column is specified in the fullselect of the recursive common table expression.

@Guest Hi Maira, Do you have an example for reason code 26 above?Hello Hello
@Sueli Almeida Hi Sueli, Could you please help Liyan obtain an example for reason code 26 as referenced in this Aha! idea? @Liyan Zhou FYI.
Hello Maira, Do you have an example for reason code 26 above?
Do you have an example for reason code 26 above? I think we already remove the restriction for it after Db2 v10.
