Lock Escalation Action zParm for Pre-Escalation

A new zParm that would enable feature in DB2 to:

1) detect request for LOCK ESCALATION
2) lookup thread characteristics/criteria in control 'table'
3) take action (coded in 'table') based on entry in control 'table', OR take a default action (i.e. disallow escalation and terminate thread with SQLCODE)

    Thank you for submitting this Db2 for z/OS Idea.

    After giving the request a comprehensive review, we have determined that we cannot include it as a candidate in an upcoming deliverable because it is not consistent with the product architecture and our strategy for future deliverables.

    There are no plans to deliver such a zparm. However, Db2 development does plan to deliver application-level support for zparms NUMLKUS and NUMLKTS. Through this, threads that cause lock escalation could have these settings implemented at the thread level to better control and potentially prevent escalations. As a consequence, we will not be implementing this Idea.

    We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team. We also hope that you will continue to submit ideas for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.
