Add a command to remove a specific retained lock

Under current behavior in a DB2 Data Sharing environment, when a DB2 member crashes and is not able to restart, the application on the other members is stopped by retained locks.
In our environment, for some specific applications due to the nature of our business and to the application's design, after a certain short period of time (seconds) a transaction is considered expired and can fail. Business protocols provide for mechanisms to cancel failed transactions without consequences.
In this case, we would like to have the possibility to precisely detect where locks are and selectively force purge retained locks for specific applications/specific tables and/or rows, to be allowed under strict DB2 admin responsibility and control, with enforced authorizations required to issue the command.

    Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. While we view all the enhancement requests we receive as valuable and we would like to implement all of them, in an effort to have maximum transparency we are closing the ones that don’t currently appear on our two year product roadmap. This is not to say that these enhancements may not still be implemented at some point in the future as we do evaluate our requirements on the basis of customer demand and technical impact, to deliver maximum value to our customers.


    We appreciate your input to the Db2 for z/OS development team.  And we hope that you will continue to enhancement suggestions for improvements as customer feedback is a key component to shaping the future direction of Db2 for z/OS.
