Workspace Db2 for z/OS

User Specified Correlation ID Acceptance and Propagation throughout IMS, DB2 z/OS and Guardium

There is critical functionality on disparate systems which require real-time and near real-time interactions. Tracking, primarily for Information Security and forensic purposes, the flow of a specific interaction throughout the various platforms and solutions is currently an ad-hoc process. Once the mainframe becomes involved in an interaction, the process becomes obfuscated and moves from association to guess work, primarily due to a lack of a unique interaction (transaction) identifier available through the enterprise. Dramatic transaction and query volume throughout solutions make associating Guardium report records with application and system logs infeasible.

The request for enhancement is to accept and propagate throughout IMS a user specified correlation ID, including propagation to Guardium records for monitored IMS/DB or DB2 instances. The user specified correlation value should be at least 36 bytes in length and should be exposed via the Resource Adapter, as well as other connection channels.
